Golf Cars of Iowa, based in Pleasant Hill, is a family-owned dealership led by owner Dave Henry. Dave began his working life as a union electrician, a trade he practiced from 1978 to 1990 and a union he still belongs to today. In 1985 he also became a homebuilder. In 1997 he bought Golf Cars of Iowa, which had just 68 golf cars on the lot at the time. By 2000 he had expanded the business and built the location it occupies now.

The business became even more of a family affair in 2002, when Dave's son Cole Henry joined. Cole serves as sales and parts manager and runs the shop, including supervising the mechanics. In 2011, Sherri Henry, Dave's wife and Cole's mother, came aboard as office manager to support the operation.

Growth has continued since then. In the spring of 2015, the Henrys bought the neighboring building to make room for additional inventory. From those modest beginnings, Golf Cars of Iowa now holds more than 650 cars and keeps growing, while remaining a business run by the Henry family.
